Yes, I am home from Italy, as I have been for about two months. I will share all of the stories of creepy old men, cancelled flights, fighting across language barriers, and personal growth at some point, but because there are so many, I shall share a part of my trip for the next few journals: Part 1- Getting To London
Well, once we got everything loaded onto busses en route to Newark (eww) International, everything seemed great. I made it through customs without being frisked, and we ate and our flight left on time. As I contentedly ate my airplane food and slipped into a gentle slumber, I thought to myself "wow, this trip is going perfectly".
I awoke as we were an hour out from landing in London Heathrow airport. Terribly jet lagged, my friend and I decided to pass out on the large sleeping couches. So my friend, our violins, our carryons, and a guy friend of ours camped out. I am sad to say, I have pictures of this. It was at this point things started to go wrong. I woke up to an announcement about my flight, and promptly watched as my flight's departure time dissapeared. As I approached the flight desk for Brit Airways, I told myself there was no way. But as soon as the lady opened her mouth after clicking away, "Oh, yes, your flight has been cancelled. We will escort you down to baggage claim"
The D80 was a tank, it survived all the flights, 4 hour layovers, flight cancellations, bus rides, running, spilled gelati, and strange men, almost better than I did, not to mention that a friend of mine dropped it, I mean DROPPED it.
As for now, finals are over and all seems to be well. Aside from not being able to use my left arm thanks to a Tetanus shot yesterday, I am happy and healthy, and gearing up for next month. I will be away for nearly all of July folks. First weekend I will be in the DC area for 4th of July, then I will be at an arts seminar for two weeks. Yes, I am one of 15 visual artists representing student artists in my state, kind of a big deal to me. After that, I will be home for two days, and then I am getting my wisdom teeth out. Sounds fun, right?
